Happy Friday! How about some Blog Hops?

GReads! question is one I've seen before, but it's worth another look:

Book to Movie: Which book turn movie do you feel did the best adaptation? What about the worst?

I know the worst will get a lot of votes -- Eragon has to be up there for that award. I recently saw The Help and really thought they did a good job with that one. I think all of the Harry Potters were very good. Of course, every detail from the book can't be in the movies, but these were very true to the book.

This is a timely question, since I just watched Snow Flower and the Secret Fan last night and was very disappointed. This is one of my favorite books of all time. While I thought it was a good movie, it really was only "based" on the book. The book is about Chinese culture, the movie is a story about two Chinese girls in the present, and their ancestors as young girls in the past. When I see something like this, it really makes me want to read the book again immediately, so I can get back the "specialness" of that reading experience. The movie left a bad taste in my mouth.

Parajunkee and Alison are wanting to know:

Question: Keeping with the Spirit of Giving this season, what book do you think EVERYONE should read and if you could, you would buy it for all of your family and friends?

Ooohh. Good question. Well, I'm going to say The Help, even though that was part of my answer for the previous question. I also think, for certain dystopian lovers, Divergent and Blood Red Road, which were a couple of my favorite reads this year. For more dramatic reading, you can't beat Between Shades of Gray. For a good contemporary, I would have to recommend The Sky is Everywhere. There are some books still on my list that could probably be on here (Lola and the Boy Next Door and Daughter of Smoke and Bone to name a few), but since I haven't read them (they are on my list), I won't recommend them. Whew. I could go on, but I won't....

  5. I honestly think many of the fans of the Inheritance cycle were disappointed with Eragon. It had the potential to be such a great movie - but it wasn't :(
