Book Blogger Hopping again!! (Great way to spend a Friday . . .)

Book Blogger Hop

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy your visit!  Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy-For-Books and it's great fun.  Go to that site and click on a bunch of book blogger sites and you will find lots of friends.  There's new adventures every week.  You also get to answer a question.  Here's this week's:

"When you read a book that you just can't get into, do you stick it out and keep reading or move to your next title?"

I'm going to repeat what I've already read others say --  my "to read" pile is way to big to spend a lot of time on a book that I'm not enjoying.  Since I enjoy reading a wide variety, this rarely happens.  However, if a book was sent to me to review, I will try to give it more of a chance, but I think the important thing is to read enough of the book  to explain why you didn't enjoy it.  In this case, I might even jump to the end to get a feel for that, too.

Happy Book Blogging!

  1. Hopping by to visit and follow! I do the same thing--get a feel for the book, but if it's painful to read, it's time to stop. I love the Dr. Seuss reference in your blog name! To this day, no one does children's books better than Dr. Seuss.

  2. Hopping by! i agree with you that we should at least try and read enough to give a review of why we didn't like it. I usually try to push through, most of the time I'll just put it aside and come back to it.

  3. I totally agree with you :) I have so many books I want to read, so I have no qualms with quitting a book. If it's for review though, I do my best to finish it.

    Have a great weekend :)

  4. if the book is so truly awful that it's unreadable, it either goes back to the library, or into the trash. this has happened.

if it's just plain awful, but perfectly readable, I'll do my best to slog through it, and then write a scathing review. This has also happened.

  6. I usually put things down then come back to them... because I know that sometimes I'm just not in the mood for that kind of story.
If I come back to it though, and still hate it, away it goes!
