Book Review: Bridesmaid Lotto, by Rachel Astor

Bridesmaid Lotto is a cute, delightful, feel-good read that would be great for your summer TBR.

There’s nothing completely unexpected here, but just a lot of fun. The social wedding of the year – the wedding of Emma VanHorn and Alan Hall has become even more exciting. The bride is holding a lottery to give four lucky girls a chance to be her bridesmaids. And there’s even more – Alan’s brother, Jake Hall (who is one of the hottest movie stars ever) is one of the groomsmen – and he’s single!

Twenty-six year old Josie McMaster (McMaster the Disaster) doesn’t really want anything to do with the Bridesmaid Lotto, so when her name is selected on national TV, she is understandably surprised.  It seems her mother has entered her name, and she is really going to be a bridesmaid and meet the dreamy Jake Hall. Of course, her mother is completely convinced that Jake will fall in love with Josie.

Astor has also created some interesting side characters that kept me chuckling. There are the other three bridesmaids, the country bumpkin, the jealous model, and the friendly one. Josie has some dear friends – her roommate Calla, who turns out to me more that Josie bargained for, and her gay co-worker, Mattie. They are both enjoyable characters and contribute to the mayhem.

There’s no other way to describe this book other than fun, fun , fun. The ebook is only $2.99, so what have you got to lose? When you are ready for the perfect light-hearted romantic read, this one will fit the bill.

This is the first book in the McMaster the Disaster series, and while this book can be read alone, there’s a bit of a cliff hanger at the end that will cause me to grab the next one ASAP!
