Feature & Follow - Hate or Love?

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow
The questions got a little messed up last week and this week, but I haven't answered this one yet, so that's what I'm going to do:

Have you ever read a book you thought you’d hate but loved? Or vice versa?

With the exception of assigned reading for school, I would never read a book that I think I'm going to hate. But I've been disappointed by a lot of books that I thought I would love. A few come to mind.

I love Ilsa J. Bick, so I was excited to read White Space. Unfortunately I couldn't finish it. It was just too confusing.

I really enjoyed The Darkest Minds, but couldn't finish the second book, Never Fade. It is unusual for me to totally lose interest in a series, but I did. It just seemed to be spinning its wheels.

I'm sure there are some others, but those are the two that come to mind immediately. How about you? Leave me a link so I can visit. Be sure to check out our hosts, Alison  & Parajunkee.

  1. I've never read The Darkest Minds, but it sounds pretty exciting so it's on my tbr. Sorry you didn't like the second book! :)

  2. I'm always finding books that look amazing, and then putting off reading them just in case they're not that good. It's always a shame though.

  3. Assigned reading is also the only time that I read books that I think I’ll hate. Luckily, I don’t always hate all of them. Some of my favorite books are ones that I was originally forced to read.

  6. The only time I can think of that I purposely read a book I thought I would hate was Fifty Shades. My friend adores it so I read it for her but I did and up hating it, just like I expected.

Thanks for visiting! I LOVE comments! I've received several awards and because of the time involved, I now must make this an award free blog.
