This Week's Book Blogger Hop

Here's this weeks question from Crazy-For-Books:
"How do you spread the word about your blog?
(e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs...)"

I'm relatively new to blogging, and really started just for myself, and I thought maybe some of my students would like to see what I've been reading.  I've promoted it to them and to my family.  I follow lots of book blogs and I've made some comments if I had something to say.  I've mentioned this link on Facebook a couple of times, but my "friends" are limited.  I think this Book Blogger Hop has gotten more people to visit than anything else.  But like my heading says, writing about the books I read helps ME and that's the main reason I do it.  I'm not usually into giveaways, library loots, etc.  I just want to read reviews of books and add to my already substantial "books to read" list!

  3. I'm a new follower :).

I agree with you - my blog is more a personal tracking for the books I have read, my running and family updates. It's for me. I run two book clubs (one national) which makes it fun for me.

    Have a great weekend!

  5. Hi! I'm a new follower from the hop! My blog started out as a way to share books I loved with my aunt, who lives a ways away. Now I love to share my book reviews with everyone! I am getting ready to read The Help soon so I can't wait to read your review!

  6. First Off I just want to say "WooHoo for being a Librarian!" It was a great librarian who nurtured my love of reading which eventually led to me becoming an author. She has since passed away, but will always hold a special place in my heart! I have served as President of the Friends of the Library too. What a great organization! Libraries are such wonderful places!
I too am fairly new to book blogging, though I have been using websites and other social medias to help in the marketing of my books for a while now.
I'm a new follower! Have a great weekend!!

  7. Sounds like you have a good attitude about the whole thing. Advertising certainly isn't the most important part of book blogging. That being said, joining the Hop really is the best way to get your blog noticed. I'm glad I found it. Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Hi-- I found your blog through Bibliophiliac. I've been book blogging for 6.5 years now. I "get the word out about my blog" by visiting blogs where I get wonderful ideas about what to read next. My wishlist is groaning under its own weight!

  9. Hi Annette! I mostly started book blogging for me, as well. I liked seeing a list of books I'd read, and thought it would be awesome to go back to my reviews when I'm re-reading a series at a later date and comparing how I felt then to whenever I was currently reading. I've mostly just been commenting on other peoples' blogs -- it's a great way to make friends! :)

I've never actually thought about spreading the word through the people I knew in real life, mostly because my friends would laugh at me for being a "huge nerd" and would probably stop by once and never return. That's why I like book bloggers so much: you can share your love of books with other people who love books just as equally!

Have an awesome weekend, and thank you for stopping by my blog!

  10. Hi there! I am in the education field too. I teach grade 3. My TBR list is ever growing and it all comes from the great blogs I find in these hops! I see you are reading The Help. I have been debating whether or not to pick that one up. Any comments about it so far? Come and visit me at www.mandysescape.blogspot.com

  11. Mandy -- I've had a busy weekend so I'm not too far into the book yet. It's written from three or four people's perspectives -- some of them written in dialect, which for me isn't a problem, but you will find out right away if this bothers you. I watched an interview with Katie Couric and Stockett, which was very interesting. You can google it. Thanks for stoping by.

  12. New follower here!

I'm really loving the diversity of your reads, so I can't wait to check out some of your reviews.

I started my blog review for myself as well... and had mainly promoted it to my family, since I was always trying to get them to read certain books anyways, and this was a good way for them to check something out, lol!
Then, through following some of my favorite authors, I learned about ARCs... something that
    a) I had never heard of before and
    b) I wasn't aware "commoners" could request!

I wanted to be someone who got a chance to prereview!!! So I realized I had to build up my blog to request them... and that led me into this whole world of book blogging!!

  13. I like your answer! I'm not really into giveaways, either (which is probably one of the reasons why my blog doesn't get as much traffic as others). I like to review books and share my thoughts with others -- especially if I find an awesome book that I think people just have to read!

  15. Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my blog! I'm glad to see the Blog Hopper really does work. I've had a lot of visits since I posted my link there.
It's nice to know that we have a way to express our feelings and ramblings about the books we love...or hate :)
