Monday Memories: The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales

Welcome to my meme, Monday Memories, where I feature favorite books we've loved from the past. You can link to an old review, or write something new about a beloved book from your past. Really, what's important is not the book, but why it is memorable to you. So, have fun reminiscing, and leave a comment below, so we can all enjoy your memories.

I also wanted to let you know about another wonderful blog that you should check out. Ashley @ Books from Bleh to Basically Amazing does a weekly post called Memory Monday. She has been posting about her childhood memories of books. What's great about Ashley's site is that she is asking for guest posts for her Memory Monday event!  So hop on over there and check it out.

If you haven't read The Stinky Cheese Man and other Fairly Stupid Tales, you really need to. No matter what your age, I can't imagine anyone not thoroughly enjoying these irreverent re-tellings. Jon Scieszka & Lane Smith have some other books of this same ilk, but this is the one my children and I read over and over. This kind of humor was right up my son's alley. We laughed out loud every time! I would never part with my copy of this book.

I can't say it better than the Amazon review:  "There are no lessons to be learned or morals to take to heart--just good, sarcastic fun that smart-alecks of all ages will love."

Share one of your cherished book memories!

  1. Oh, I love this topic. So many times blogs focus on the new stuff that the old gets forgotten.

I just finished reading Charlotte's Web with my kids. So many vivid personalities and voices! And it was wonderful to walk down memory lane. Even though Charlotte's Web wasn't my childhood favorite, I still remembered it so vividly after 30 years.
