Book Review: Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have) by Sarah Mlynowksi @SarahMlynowski

Cute. There's no other way to describe Ten Things We Did (and Probably Shouldn't Have.) This isn't a serious book, and it requires you to suspend some disbelief. But if you do, you'll have a lot of fun reading this story.

First off: Unbelievable premise. April's parents have split. Her mom moved to Paris. Now, her dad and his new wife are moving away. April doesn't want to spend her second semester at a new school and leave her friends and her boyfriend. So she asks if she can stay with Vi. Only one problem. Vi's mom is on tour with a musical. So they fake conversations and emails between Vi's mom and April's dad, and it all works out so April and Vi basically live in a beautiful house -- all by themselves.

April has a boyfriend who is kind of meh -- but I think he's supposed to be. Things go wrong. They have sex, throw parties, visit the gynecologist, spend too much money, get a cat, and adopt a new friend (nosy neighbor.) All with a great attitude that will keep you in stitches.

There's a little "meat" to the story. April does mature. She learns a lot about relationships, romantic and friendly. She learns that maybe sometimes her parents do know what is best. (Duh!) It was enjoyable, if fluffy. A totally relaxing, fun book to read. And we all need that sometimes.

Tara just reviewed this book too, and she really had the same thoughts that I did, so I wanted to mention her excellent review!

I'll be able to recommend this to lots of teen girls, as long as they aren't opposed to some sexual situations and teen drinking. If you want a quick read that will provide lots of laughs, grab this one. I purchased this eBook for cheap a while back at Amazon.com
