TGIF! Blogger Pride

Happy Friday everyone! Ginger always comes up with interesting questions and here's this week's:

Book Blogger Pride: What do you take pride in when it comes to blogging?

1.  I take pride in the fact that I post almost every day, usually 6 times per week, and most of my posts are book reviews.

2. I take pride in the fact that I follow about 250 book blogs, and I at least look at every post in my reader every day. I don't read every word, but I know what you've posted about.

3. I take pride in the fact that I review books as I read them while they are still fresh in my mind. I read bloggers who say they have seven reviews to write, or something like that. I could never do that! I know you take notes, but it's still hard for me to get "the feeling" of the book so long after I've read it. I need to write as I read.

This is an interesting question, because I've been contemplating things like a new blog design, or moving to Wordpress, as I've seen a lot of bloggers do lately. But, you know, I'm just a "simple" blogger. This isn't a business for me. It's not a competition either. I'm having a blast....16 months and counting, and no blogging slump here. I love that I have more and more followers all the time, but I'd do the same thing if I only had ten. If I spend too much time on blog posts, and designs, and memes, then I have less time to read. Which truly is my passion. I do hope that shows in my blog.

So, yeah, some day when I'm in the mood I'm going to do something about my design. I may even put forth some money to pay for something. But I have too many books to read to worry about that right now.....

Thanks for stopping by; please come back often! I hope you have a great weekend, and Happy Reading!

  1. Aww Annette I think you're fabulous! I know what you mean about the switch to wordpress & re-design. We put a lot of time in to our blogs so we want the best for them. But at the same time, you have to remember WHY you started this whole book blogging thing to begin with. I try not to focus so much on HOW my blog looks & more on the content that I am posting each day.

  2. I love your answer - and have to say sometimes I catch myself spending a bit too much time on my blog (and commenting) and taking away from reading time. But I love book blogging!

  3. You should be very proud of the fact that you post consistently! I do as much as I can, so I know that it requires some hard work and a lot of reading time :)

And as for transferring to Wordpress and redesigning, I totally understand. I've been meaning to do the same thing for a while, but then I remember that I blog because I love what I write and the community. How my blog looks is important, but not as important as the content and the fact that I enjoy it.

  4. We have much the same approach, even if we don't read the same kinds of books! I am a simple blogger too, 9 out of 10 posts I put up are reviews, and I review books within a day or two of reading them. I wouldn't want it any other way :)

  5. Well said Annette. The Paperback Princesses put up 4 reviews every week and we sometimes struggle to do that - and that's two of us. I don't know how you manage so many reviews on your own.

    1. I usually do 3 or 4 reviews per week. I'm at the time in my life when my kids are independent, my hubby likes to sit around in the evening and watch movies or compute, so I sit and read or blog. I do love to cook, and I have other hobbies like sewing, so I do have other things, but I read a lot (and I read fast...) I can usually squeeze in about one or 1 1/2 hours reading at work most days too....

  6. You're so good about reviewing as soon as you finish a book. Unfortunately, I'm one of those slackers who's got a list of books I have to review. Usually, I have to quickly page through to refresh. I need to use you as an inspiration!

  7. I was beginning to think I was one of the few people still happy with Blogger. I'm not advanced enough of a blogger to switch to wordpress, but I will happily follow my favorite bloggers to their new site, it's just not for me.

And I'm jealous that you can review as you read, I am way too lazy to do that, then I wonder why I'm having trouble writing a decent review! ;)

Thanks for visiting! I LOVE comments!
