Stacking the Shelves - Review Edition

Welcome to the weekend, where we discuss new books we have acquired. This week, I got one box of books from Library Media Connection Magazine for review:

Spirit's Chosen, by Esther Friesner
The Twice Lost, by Sarah Porter
Dear Life, You Suck, by Scott Blagden
Nine Days, by Fred Hiatt

I really don't know much about any of these, but I'll be looking forward to reading them. How about you? Have you read anything about these? What did your week bring you? Remember to stop by Tynga's Reviews to see all the participating blogs.

  4. Interesting haul.

Dear Life, You Suck sounds interesting enough from the title alone to put on to my Wish List.

    Enjoy your reads.

  15. I've heard great things about DEAR LIFE, YOU SUCK!!! (jk. I'm the author) It's over the top edgy, lots of politically incorrect humor, profanity, etc. So if you like ultra-edgy/ultra-real, teen boy sarcasm/wise-assyness, you'll like it. Otherwise...
    All my best,
    Scott

  16. I just read my post and it sounds misleading. There are many reasons why the main character acts and talks the way he does, which is revealed in the story. There's great depth, thoughtfulness, and heart in the boy, he's just had a horrific past so he's tough, mistrusting, and sarcastic on the surface. Thought I should clarify so you didn't think it was just 300 pages of foul-mouthed teenage boy ranting.
