Armchair BEA - Day 1 - Interview Questions

Welcome to Armchair BEA. Go sign up if you haven't. I wish I could be at BEA, but this is the next best thing!

Today, the first day, we are to get to know each other a little better, so here's some of my answers to the interview questions:

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? Howlong have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?

I've been blogging almost two years about books. I have another blog I started a year before that where I blogged about books and other things, so maybe you could say almost three years. I'm a high school librarian and love to read YA. I also read some adult books, but mostly ones that I think teens might be interested in. I just wanted a way to talk about books, to become more critical of what I read, and to hear about the latest and greatest books coming out. Blogging has done all that and more for me. I just LOVE IT! Can't stand a day without my blog....

Whatare you currently reading, or what is your favorite book you have read so farin 2012?

Well, you can check my side bar to see what I'm currently reading. I think it will probably be Lies Beneath by the time this posts....

My favorite book has probably been The Immortal Rules. I'm so happy about that because I really didn't like The Iron Fey series very much.

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone readingyour blog may not know about you.

I love to cook and sew. We go camping a lot over the summer in our Fifth Wheel RV. Oh, and while BEA is going on, I'm on vacation! But I plan to have lots of time to visit all of you and comment!

What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?

I feel I'm in the minority here, but I love book reviews. I love to write them and read them. I usually skim over other kinds of posts and just concentrate on the book reviews. I also like In My Mailbox, or Stacking the Shelves, or those kinds of memes because I love finding out about new books!

I'm also hosting a fun challenge: Books You Can Read In a Day! There's a link in the sidebar, if you are interested.

Where do you see your blog in five years?

Honestly? I hope it's much the same. I concentrate on book reviews. Lots of new books, but I have a huge TBR of older releases too. I review every book I read. Sure, I'd take some more followers, but that's not what it's about for me.

I know I need some design help. I just haven't found the time to concentrate on finding someone to help me with this. Maybe over the summer, since I'm off work I can concentrate on that. But summer seems to go so fast and I have so many other projects, I'm not making any guarantees.

I haven't had any problems with the Blogger platform *knocks on wood* but I suppose a jump to Wordpress is always a possibility. And getting my own domain....

So many possibilities, but who knows?

Thanks for stopping by. Leave me your link, so I can visit. I'm looking forward to spending the week with you!

  1. I love book reviews, too. When I first started blogging I took part in memes, but now I don't feel like doing that anymore. I'm thinking about starting to do Waiting on Wednesday posts, though, since I love reading them on other blogs.

  5. You were quick with that Shadow and Bone review! Do you have any suggestions on what to knit next for a beginner? I'm enjoying the scarves, but want to try something new. High school librarians are the best! Books You Can Read In A Day sounds like a fantastic Meme to follow for reluctant readers. Consider me a new follower!

  7. I haven't read Immortal Rules but agree about the Iron Fey. I love reviews as well, it helps decide if books are worth it.

  8. I am a little jealous of your job! I think high school librarians are so important! I have even been considering going back to school to get my degree in Library Science.

I really loved The Immortal Rules too!! I think Julie Kagawa is a fabulous writer!!

I hope that you are enjoying your vacation this week!

  9. :) I love reading book reviews. It's so neat to see the things people pick out about books that you completely missed - or that they loved and you HATED!

    So wonderful to "meet" you!

  10. I never get to other blogs until summer it seems. Of course taking masters classes and being a librarian in an elementary school eats up a lot of my spare time! Love your blog and will be checking out your challenge. So glad to see more librarians blogging! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier!

  11. I've been avoiding The Immortal Rules since I didn't like the Iron Fey series. Maybe I should read it.

  15. I love review also, I first go through my dashboard looking for reviews or whatever else catches my eye.

I have thought of getting my own domain also, a decent thought, I hate changes like that.

  16. The Immortal Rules was my favorite too! That's awesome that you're a high school librarian. Do you find that a lot of the teens are interested in reading? I [sadly] didn't visit my high school library. :(

Since you love to cook and sew, I suggest checking out Pinterest--you'll find a ton of amazing things over there!

  17. Book reviews are by far my favourite thing about book blogs - it really gets chomping at the bit to buy the book if the review pulls me in! And they're the posts I comment on the most.

I like your design, it's so nice and simple (and my slow laptop loves it too!)

  20. I love book reviews, too! I don't really do any memes or other features. My blog is almost all book reviews, with the occasional interview, meme, or bookish blabbering. You can find my post here!

  21. I bet the kids at your library love you! Most of the librarians I knew in high school never read any of the books I was interested in. (Although to be fair, I didn't read a lot of books, but when I did, it would've been nice to talk to someone about it.) They only read what was on the curriculum. I think it's great when librarians have first-hand knowledge of books and can talk to you about it. Plus, I think it helps make reading more interesting and cool to the younger generation!

    1. One of the reasons I got so interested in reading and blogging. Love to get kids excited about reading. And there's a lot to be excited about!

  22. I'm kind of the opposite of you, I like blogs that mix books and life all together, as mine does. We also do a lot of camping, but we have a little popup camper, not a fifth wheel.

  23. Love that you have that Books You Can Read In a Day Challenge! That would definitely help knock down my TBR pile a bit. Have a great week! <3

  28. I also love book reviews the most :) I'm not a huge meme person and don't really do any on my blog, though I do love occasionally reading them on other blogs. I'm much more interested in the reviews and what to put next on my tbr list :)

  29. I also really like book reviews. I like reading other people's take on books and get new inspiration to how to read books and see the different ways the same book speak to different people.

  30. I so need to read The Immortal Rules!
